Digital marketing campaign that generate debates More than sales!! Pepsi Refresh!
In 2010 Pepsi decided to allocate it is marketing budget from traditional super bowl Ads which lasts for 20 years, to a new campaign called Pepsi Refresh, Pepsi allocated 25M $ to this project.
Pepsi Refresh Project based on generating ideas from consumers in charity ventures like education, health.
Then consumers will vote for the winning idea.
The campaign starts will and goes viral with the very high level of engagement and people that generated an idea and the result of the digital campaign metrics was significant.
The results showing great work and high engagement rate, Pepsi for sure showed her good face for their audience.
But the questions here do it really work? And stakeholders satisfied with this result?
The answers are sadly no the sales declined and for the first time Pepsi lost huge market share and became ranked as the third brand followed coke diet for the first time which was a huge fail for Pepsi CEO and for the marketing director of Pepsi.
Why this gap between good results social metrics that was high and optimistic and sales figures that dramatically goes down?
Finally, Pepsi Refresh campaigns ended due to several fraud cases allegations of consumers.
But the questions here
Is this campaign is a true failure?
What is marketing professors said about these campaigns?
Why sales figures decreased while the campaigns social figures were successful.

Fill the Gap
It is not all about knowledge , what the academic studying will not tells you about is that practicing marketing is something a little different from the studying abstracts and books ,
sometimes you have to let yourself go without specific guidelines , and you will be amazed how this freefall flow matching the real knowledge you had , some people fortunate enough to practice marketing before beginning of academic study but other people do not ,
if you are not fortunate enough you will find unpleasant gap which is how to apply ?!
